Okay, so I've been tagged by =mausuz, i suppose that should account for some type of special privilege. So, here goes:

The rules:
1. Post these rules
2. Each person tagged must post 8 random (hopefully interesting) facts about themselves

4. At the end of the post 4 more bloggers are tagged and named

My 8 Random Facts

1. My college was Network Engineering... and there's no one better or more experienced in my circle of friends, family, and co-workers than me.. but, I hate computers!


2. Growing up, I was underweight. Skinny beyond all belief. Now, I'm not so much anymore...


3. I sent my first e-mail in 1994. We had 9600bps connection to the Internet through the University of Manitoba back then. (now-a-days, dialup is 56kbps, or 56,000bps, and hispeed is 3MBps, or 3,000,000bps!!) We ran Pegasis Mail, and Mosiac for Web Browsing, on Windows 3.1. Trumpet Winsock was required software, and didn't work very well.


4. Before the internet (see #3 above), we used Gopher to browse information 'online.' Huh? Gopher? Look it up... before that, I frequented BBS systems over modem as well (yes, on 9600bps!). GOO, Z-MODEM!! (reference)


5. People wondering why they find straws curled up like a snail, with bite marks, have not asked me what I do most of the time in leu of chewing gum...


6. I've sold everything I had at least twice in my lifetime... and I'm on my third 'iteration' of collecting stuff that I don't need, only to likely sell it all anytime now...


7. Dispite the world loving the best, newest, and greatest, I prefer the old but proven technologies. Eg, I use Quark 5.0 for Mac OS 9 or below, and won't upgrade to 6 or 7, nor will I use InDesign. Same goes with Windows... I'd still run NT 3.51 Server if I could. (only if they had a Active Directory add-on!!)


8. I have a son, turning 6 years old soon. He lives fulltime with his mom. Though he doesn't call me "Dad," he doesn't have to ... when he called me "James," I feel the same, if not more, love in that name, than the word "Dad" ever would. Friends don't understand, but they don't have to either.
